The Meerkat is one of the most novel Spyderco designs ever produced. Its defining feature is its unique—and sometimes puzzling—Phantom Lock™ mechanism. Similar to a classic “scale-release” back lock, it is operated by rotating the butt ends of the handle halves in opposite directions to close the blade. This limited-edition resurrection of the Meerkat design not only makes it available to a new generation of knife fans, but also elevates it with a blade crafted from CPM SPY27. Exclusive to Spyderco, CPM SPY27 is a cobalt-enriched particle metallurgy stainless steel that offers an excellent balance of edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
